Newport Twp Fire Dept provides Fire Supression and Rescue services for the residents of Newport Twp.
 
The Newport Twp Fire Department is Station 163 in Luzerne County, Pa. Our station is located in the Wanamie section of our first due coverage. Our First Due Coverage Area is Appx. 19.5 square miles. Our station houses several apparatus. 2 Engines, 1 Telesquirt/Ladder, 1 Medium Duty Rescue/Engine, 1 Brush Truck, 1 Off Road Rescue Unit which is the only one like it in our area. The station is staffed with 1 township paid driver 24/7/365. All other apparatus are then taken by off duty drivers, depending on the nature of the alarm (Structure Fire, MVC, Off-Road Rescue, ect). All services are provided by highly trained volunteers. The Department is overseen by Fire Chief John Floryshak , who is assisted by several Assistant Chiefs. The Newport Twp Fire Dept is staffed by highly trained and professional volunteers, who volunteer their time and tallents to provide Emergency Services to The Township of Newport.
